Then you have cities named after false gods or images like Memphis and Phoenix. There is a lot more. Why are they errecting statues of false gods and images in this counrty??
Many fundamentalists believe that America is the last world empire, that we are literally the endtime "Babylon", the empire that cruelly smashes its enemies and makes slaves of the world while polluting it with its filth (usually interpreted as cultural impacts from movies to music to porn to whatever). I'm not so sure I agree. Europe seems a lot more evil to me.
There are many pagan things in this country such as the Statue of Liberty which is an almost exact outline replica of Ishtar and that freaks some people out.
New York is often thought of as the city of Babylon, the commercial mistress of the world which is destroyed in one hour and the merchants of the world mourn the loss of their wealth.
I don't know. I love America, but being individually right with God and being sure that Jesus is your Savior is a lot more important...priceless... in my opinion!
We are listed in the Bible, but IMHO we aren't actually listed by another name, only our symbol. It talks about the two super powers~one is the Bear and the other is the Eagle. The Bear falls and eventually the Eagle also falls. I believe that the Bear was the U.S.S.R. and of course, America is the Eagle. I personally love this country and hope it doesn't happen, but since it's Biblical, there's probably no way of getting around it.
I see alot of things in the bible that scare me and make me wonder if its really the end now...btw, I am not a christian, I believe that the bible was written to be put into motion by some very powerful religious/political people. So yes it scares me, cause people made those events happen, and of course the religious people, see that and go, oh no god is coming back! May GOD forgive me if I am wrong, but half the things in the bible are rather hateful and cruel and ceratinly not what i would call LOVE, sorry, But do I think the events are real and coming to life...YEs, some people do want to end things cause we are simply downgrading their lifestyle and they want to weed us out.
The United States is not mentioned in the book of Revelation. This does not scare me since I won't be here, I do believe the Bible and in the rapture. So I believe I will either die first or go up in the rapture. But is does make me sad for those who will be left behind.
In the end does it matter when, but how we each live our lives each day as if it was the last before the judgment? I always think what if at 3:00 today the world ended (or came to the fulfillment of St John's Revelation?)--I move it to a later time as the day progresses. Boy does it make me pray and ask for forgiveness and the strength to go forward each moment in fulfillment of a Godly life to the best of my ability.
Sometimes keeping one's eye too closely on a prize takes the focus off of this very second in which God does exist and wants us to be serving the other souls/spirits around us with by sharing His truth and light. If I feel confident in my own saving then I ask Him please to help me be of service to help another, since I have been so very blessed.
God has made his outcome very clear. I have no ambiguity about Him following through on his word. I will trust His timing and serve Him until that end--hopefully with honor, grace, faith (at times very blind faith) and courage. I can only focus on my own contribution as He assigns me in the moment.
Mother Teresa died before the revelation, but is there any doubt she is with God and in heaven at this moment? Think if she spent all of her time contemplating whether God or if a heaven existed or when the revelation will happen. It would have taken from another soul she touched with God's great light. I hope to have even a small cell of her commitment and lack of concern for all the big answers that only He knows anyway. Just my 2 from my own struggle on this as I write this I write this as a reminder to myself.
This IS the era of the golden calf and our hearts were hardened. To bring the revalation into some scientific perspective, I sugest you read "DMT, THE SPIRIT MOLICULE". It is my opinion when our solar system enters the galactic window to the center of the milkyway system in 12/21/2012 the nuro receptors in the brain will be opened to DMT. NOT all poeples will have this physical modification (in a wink of an eye). These DMT people may very well be those of the rapture? The other interesting fact is the galactic window is open to our solar system for 1000 years before we again become hidden from the center. The freedoms we enjoy in our constitution is a shaking out if you will of our "desire to create self expression". It was this "selfish?" desire that separated us from the god center in the first place. All in all it was a good thing since it says those who suffer the tribulations of phisical life AND make it back to God, will be higher than the angels them selves. Sorry, I don't remember the verse on that one but it just goes to show you this is a life of tuff decisions. Unfortunaly, I read alot of posts here that are incredibly self centered. Catastrophy is Gods way of making poeple go deep inside themselves. Somewhere in there I hope they find the everlasting self. The world IS perfect in every way, irregardless of what ills societies may suffer from. BE WELL !

Oh, for heaven's sake. There WAS a time (the 1700s and 1800s) when higher education meant learning Greek and Latin and classic literature and art. By erecting these monuments, the municipalities hope to convey that they were learned, educated communities.
If you had a little learning yourself, you might recall a phoenix is referenced in the Bible. (Talk about paranoia!!!)
