Since there are so many of today's movies that have swearing and some type of sex scenes in them, what movies do Christians watch? Last weekend we rented Gran Torino and the language in it was pretty raunchy! I remember watching the Wedding Crashers on a rented DVD and that had nude scenes in it! Evan Almighty was sort of stupid, but at least no language or sexual stuff in it and the same for Get Smart. Twister, 8-Below and Snow Dogs the same. I know that to a lot of movie Producers and Directors there are definitely three things that can make movies high bucks......language, sex and action. Of course, add some (a lot) of stunningly beautiful girls (wearing very little) to the movie and the movie will really sell big time!
So, if you watch movies at home or go out to a movie, how do you make your choice on "what and what not to" see?
As for us, we like the "somewhat silly" type movies and action! Perhaps a little (very little) bad language and sexual scenes is ok, but today........WOW, so much language and sex in so many movies!

I watch all movies. Just don't attach too much importance to any.

Except ones like Alexander which I studied closely and loved, except Colin Farrell and the "stupid" homosexual parts <thumbs down>

Also love movies like Master and Commander:Far Side of the World. Surprisingly, it's quite christian LOL

Or Amistad, where the judge guy prays before going to the courthouse. Or when the fellow slave tells the Bible story to Cinque and he says he must have done something wrong to be crucified and the guys asks, "what did we do?" <pointing to the chains>

There's also the mission where Jeremy Irons carries the Eucharist and the conquistador soldiers shoot right through it and kill him instantly in the end. A tragic scene.

I liked the wedding crashers. It's just fun You gotta make sure your kids don't watch it if they are 12

Am also a big fan of all the movies with that super gang of Stiller, Vaughn, Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson, they are funny.

The only ones I can stand are those like Brokeback mountain or V for Vendetta where they insinuate crap into the script. You'll find Tony running into an adult theatre instead at the rate of 3 x 10^8 m/s - I don't mind sleeping in a movie theatre amidst lot of female squealing, ooohhs and aaaahhs

Hey here is a great one that most people don't know about. It is a sci-fi flick, but it was much better than expected. Outlander Outlander (2008) is the name of the movie. The main actor is James Caviezel . If your not sure who he is, he played Christ in the movie The Passion of the Christ The Passion of the Christ (2004) . He plays the main role in the movie Outlander great. Very well done sci-fi movie if you into those. He is a very good actor in my opion. I gave the movie 5 stars on the blockbuster rating. The movie was just released onto DVD in last few months. Check it out if you have time. You will not be dissapointed.

Did you just mention passion of the christ?

You just offended the atheist, the agnostic, the jew, the tolerant christian, the grass blades under their feet, the squirrels standing on them and the lamp post glowing behind all these

Which implies what? That Christians neither swear nor have sex? I think you need a tiny little reality check.

I like well made mysteries and I find I'm more likely to watch an R rated film than anything else. I like alot of action so sex and violence appeals to me and swearing doesn't bother me one bit, I do it myself just for the fun of it. However I've got to say that after being visited by my brother's family and their four young children I wouldn't even consider watching my type of movies if they were around. I can understand how parents feel the need to not have their children bombarded with the F word in every other sentence from the movies they're watching. I'd set up some kind of parental control on the tv if I had kids myself and I'd make an effort to see that they viewed movies appropriate for their age. I'd also watch my filthy mouth.

Before providing ammunition to a bigot like me, you have to remember I'll come back like Alexander at Issus.

Historical accuracy?

Alexander shagged boys, girls, women, men, eunuchs and probably camels too. He was not "gay" and no he wasn't "bi". He didn't wear tight vests or arrange buffoon parades between Persepolis and Gaza. He didn't sensationalize on David and Jonathan or Ruth and Naomi. And he did not adopt a Bactrian boy for himself and Hephaesteon. He is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR from Milk, the politician. He was also King. So he does not need your sympathy. The ACLU wasn't born until 2000 years later. So, let's leave it right there

Darius never fled Gaugamela.

Darius already met him in Granicus and Issus.

Alexander was wounded in Granicus, not Gaugamela.

Gaugamela was won largely because of Parmenion and he didn't need to be saved.

Persian infantry and cavalry were even more organized than shown.

Alexander captured Darius' family after Issus and not Gaugamela.

Princess Stateira was not the "daughter". And why meet her in Babylon when she is already captured near Issus.

She never asked him to be treated like a princess. It was Porus, five years later.

The Greeks lost the battle of Hydaspes.

He was wounded by an arrow at Malli and not Hydaspes.

Countless others........

Let's knock historical accuracy off the table, amigo. Something you X-Xtians can relate to?

Ironically (since I'm an atheist and swearing, nudity, etc. don't offend me) I almost exclusively watch pre-WWII movies which rarely have anything "bad" in them.

You should see Buster Keaton's "The General"
