This is something that is very hard to explain. If you have read The Shack by William P. Young, you might understand better what I am trying to say. For those that are in Christ, is it ture he has no expectations of us, like in a relational sense? Is there anything in the Bible to back this up or to reject this? For those in Christ and not of the law, then what expectations does he have of us?

Christ certainly has expectations of us.
We are expected to ...grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18.
We are expected to obey Him. John 14:15 If you love me, you will obey my commandments.
As to our relationship with Christ, Galatians 3:26 says, ' You are all sons of God through failth in Christ Jesus.' When we believe in Jesus Christ for salvation we are adopted into the royal family of God as adult sons. But experiencially we begin our spiritual lives as spiritual infants and need to grow up as per 2 Peter 3:18.
Also, regarding our relationship with Christ, as believers in Christ Jesus, we are a part of the true Church which is not the local church on the street corner, or the Roman Catholic church which is false Christianity. But rather the true Church is a living organism which consists of the body of believers in Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:27 says, 'Now you are the body of Christ and each one of you is a part of it.' However, the local church is supposed to function as a classroom where you learn about God and His plan so that you can grow spiritually.
After the rapture or resurrection of the Church, it will be known as the bride of Christ. Revelation 19:7 ...For the wedding of the Lamb has come and his bride has made herself ready.

Christ understands the weakness of mankind, so to expect man to be free of sin Christ knows it is rough to say the least. But, what Christ does expect of us is to try and learn the good path of life.
For those in Christ and not of the law, then what expectations does he have of us?
That we believe..That we love one another..That we treat others as we want to be treated (respect)
