I had heard about it in the early 80s maybe, sounded nice.
Then, only 5 years ago I found out it wasn't about having miracles happen for you.
It was about the miracle in us that changing our perspective is. Oh?, I thought.
And what a miracle it is...when, say, a waitress is gruff, curt, doesn't bring you your knife and fork, leaving
your plate in front of you.. walks away...
There are many reactions, maybe being unhappy with the whole restaurant, leaving a bad tip, etc. Then,
there is the miracle of changing perspective...being so nice to her, and leaving more than 20%.
Thinking in your heart..."Oh my, what must have happened to her...in the kitchen, at home,
with her son to make her in such a bad mood?"
Voilá, our perspective has changed from what is
being done to 'us'...to our compassion center.
This is a spiritual book, ACIM...so I placed this here.
It is more than the above, but that is a basic for those that didn't kniow.
You do realize that ACIM is "channeled" stuff, allegedly from one Christ Jesus? I bought the complete ACIM many years ago at the urging of some friends (see how open-minded TVB is?). It struck me as insipid New Age twaddle. However, the point you make about compassion is indeed one of the keys to life. I latched onto it long before ACIM as a result of Buddhist studies. Now, when an atheist lashes out at the kindly and tolerant TVB and his beliefs, he simply reminds himself "How unpleasant it must be to be like that. What a very sad life you must have." I'm only half-kidding. This attitude does work wonders in dealing with angry drivers, snotty store clerks, overbearing bosses, and the other flotsam and jetsam of life.

I took this course when it was offered by an employer. Their goal was to expand employee creativity. We read the book and had a leader to help us go through the workbook. Very helpful tool in seeing where you're stuck or held back by looking at things from only one side.
(Remember when walking across hot coals was a 'thing'? I didn't go to that seminar, lol.)

I'm sorry...I thought the assumption was that she was saying it does. I realize it could be under the topic of "spirituality"...but usually miracles suggest a deity.
It helps if you look at it in the context of the 80's. Stores were full of angel jewelry, angel books. The Chant CD's came out and were hugely popular. Medjugorje was in the news.
It's cognitive behavioral therapy/thinking that was packaged to appeal to a population buying all-things-spiritual-and-uplifting.

Years, back I went to an AA meeting in which a Course In Miracles workshop was the format.
I recall was the woman running the workshop was a good speaker and the workbook interesting. However, unless did the home work assigned the previous week you weren't allowed to share which I found a bit of a turn-off.
Anyway, it wasn't for me and I went maybe three times but the room was packed.
It was a very popular meeting.
