I know plenty of level-headed Christians who don't believe in this crap (if only they were all that way), so I don't think pigeonholing them all in this group is really correct.
But, to those who do believe it, the sun, earth, and the center of the milky way have come into alignment on December 21st for just about the beginning of Earth's existence...at least that's what Neil DeGrasse Tyson says!
Hmm...I always thought that Palin was about as smart as a box of rocks, but apparently she got this one right. Her t-shirt proclaiming "2012--A New Beginning" is a correct reference to the fact that the Mayan calendar simply ends its 5125-year cycle in 2012...and the starts another one. Something that enterprising tabloid publishers and movie producers conveniently don't mention in order to cash in on the Apocolypse hoopla.
I stand corrected into the uncertain realm of true facts. Thank you.
