Personally I say let it all hang out and hang the consequences. If anyone has an issue with it you have something convenient to hand to slap them in the face with. ;-)

Now when a baby is born the doctor doesn't deliver them fully clothed in some stylish designer baby outfit, they're buck naked and a baby doesn't know the difference between a pair of pants and their nose. Clothing is in fact a human invention when human beings migrated to colder climates within a relatively short period of time and out of necessity they used animal hides or whatever else was available to keep them warm. They didn't invent clothing because they suddenly realized that being naked was something shameful. It was a matter of survival and fortunately at that point they had already been using tools and were able to use them with the materials they already had to create primitive clothing.
After countless thousands of years as cultures, religions and societies progressed clothing became something more than protection from the elements. It became a necessity based on established traditions which I can only speculate may have been influenced by the fact that men didn't want other men to see their wives naked because they might have sexual desires for them.
In any case this way of thinking has existed to the present day and religion continues to oppose the idea of exposing too much of the human body.
So here's my question, since we all know that a baby is incapable of understanding the very concept of being naked is there some point in the development of a baby to an adult from a religious perspective in which an individual should suddenly realize that they should be ashamed of being naked?

In June's opinion, the shame attached to one's nude body is a sad state of affairs that we all wish could somehow not be attached to our self images. However, she tends to think that far too much of the time it is.

Truth be told, the ancient-aged June was MUCH more comfortable being seen buck naked a decade or two ago; in fact, it was something she more than willingly endorsed! (Just kidding, June thinks....)

Take gentle nude care.

Interesting thread because there are still cultures in the pacific, africa, etc who still wear little to no clothing and don't think twice about it. There is nothing taboo about it.

I personally think there should never be a time to be ashamed of you nude body, but as I have gotten older, and some areas aren’t as firm and rippled as they were when I was a young jock; I think I might be somewhat less open to stripping down for a swim on a nude beach.
With that logic I guess it would say shame comes when you gain too much weight, or gravity changes the way your parts go together. I would not want to be confused with a shar-pei dog on the beach, but than again with that much lose skin I don’t think anybody could tell if you were nude or not.

I think that the embarrassment about exposing your body comes in around the time of being a teen when you're awkward about your body because it's changing.

I don't think that it's religion that does it. If it happens around some religious tenet then that was something the child was exposed to by someone in authority.

I heartily agree. In my youth I was an athlete and body builder, and had no qualms about nudity, but now at 70 with gravity winning, I don't want to impose that sight on anyone....Some people ( you know who you are) should keep their clothes on.

I guess all of us aged hippies should meet at the beach and let is all hang out one more time. No need to hide the wrinkles, scars, bulges, or hair, just leave our glasses home and we will look as well as we ever did. LOL.
