Back to the original question, Why give a deity petty negative human emotions? That (to me) is a sign that some admissions in the Bible are embellished by man and not the true word of God

I couldn't agree more! I get together monthly with my Torah group and we love to read, then hash out what it means and how we see it. We get into the most amazing conversations. It makes me so happy to be Jewish!

It makes me feel nothing. The bible is nothing more than outdated myths and superstition.

Most Christians have not read the Bible from cover to cover.

If they did, they would have the same feeling as anyone else: "yeah right, this is so bull!"

First of all, how do you know this?

Second, the Bible doesn't need to be read cover to cover to get the message. The book of John alone will give you all you need to know to be a Christian. As a matter of fact, John 3:16 is enough!

You have to read the bible cover to cover to know what it really says, especially follower of christianity whom claims to follow the bible. Reading bits and pieces won't teach someone what the bible really says. Case in point, John 3:16 says that For god so loved the world he gave his only begotten son so that all who would believe would not perish but have eternal. This verse doesn't really sum up other teachings of the bible. In the New Testament it also says that the fate of unbelievers will be worse than Sodom and Gomorah, where after death, god will send them to an eternal torment where there will be crying, weeping and burning. This isn't the attribute of a loving god, it's that of a megalomaniacal unforgiving control freak. Another example is the verse that believers are supposed to love thy neighbor as thyself, but according to Matthew 5:17-20, Jesus didn't come to abolish the law of the prophets, but to fulfill and 'not one stroke, not one word of the law shall in no wise pass until heaven and earth disappear.' This says that things like beating the disobedient child and stoning the adultress are moral acts.

You are incorrect! If all a person read was John 3:16, they can decide to believe or not. That's all that's needed for salvation. A true believer will naturally want more.

That's it? Are you are saying that as long as you believe you are saved? So that means you can go out, rape, murder and pillage and St Peter will still admit you thru the pearly gates....Have I got that right?

Now why would a follower of Jesus Christ want to do those things?
