Why is it necessary to worship God? Is it something that is specifically mandated in scripture? If so, is it described how it should be done?

It's said that humans worship many things.. heroes, athletes, objects, money, etc. But, that seems to be a little bit different, a little bit less ritualized. Is some form of devotional practice necessary in order to "reach" God? Is this best achieved and more effective in a formal group in a house of worship, or is alone good enough?

Or do you think worshiping is just something that is based on an emotional need, and that is why humans have been worshiping things since the beginning of our history?

Here's a God being adored and worshiped:

Here is a modern group in the act of worshiping:

I believe that God is truth ( intelligent enegry electrical)(dark matter as force)(consuming fire) in body...If we believe in the truth and word and practice it always, we should arrive at certain outcomes of merit and or welbeing.

Those who believe should be sinless helpers of the Garden by now!

I think the Ten Commandments make it clear that worship is mandated.

It's because God, one that's above human reasoning and understanding, is ruled by human emotion. He's full of jealously and anger. Don't even think of going behind his back with Baal, one of his longtime rivals. He'll go psycho ex-girlfriend on you! You'd better worship him and him only, or you might get tossed into the eternal deep fryer one day. Many worship and believe out of fear.

Others do it, I guess, because it makes them feel good. They imagine what it would feel like if what they believe were true and it makes them happy.
