Oh I just needed a couple more days because my other apartment was not ready. The new renter was not due for another 3 weeks. I just thought that I could stay another 3 days and pay for the days i stayed.
It is a low income housing rule that I think is very unfair. Geez, just because a person lives in these type housing they are put on slow motion if they ever want to progress. But they do allow part-time students with now problems.

If you've received legal notice to quit, you cannot stay past the terms of the lease. If you hadn't received such notice, the lease may have gone month-to-month, depending on your local landlord/tenant statutes. The landlord may have gone to effort and expense to arrange contractors/inspectors/cleaners on the days you overstayed. Don't assume staying there is harmless.
You broke a rule, why did you think the LL would give you a break? Did you ask to stay an extra day or did you just not leave and hope he wouldn't noitce? What did you do to get kicked out to begin with?

In that case, did you try calling your LL and your Section 8 advisor and letting them know the situation and seeing if you could get approval from both to stay an extra 2 or 3 days at your own expense. They might have agreed. If a tenant approached me in that fashion, I probably would. But if they just stayed and didn't say anything, after being asked to vacate, I would start the eviction proceedings that day.
