So every couple of days, you buy new food, put it into a non-working refrigerator and let it go bad, Then you go out, buy more food, put that into your non-working refrigerator and let it go bad. Then you go out again, buy more food, put that into your non-working refrigerator and let that go bad. Repeat repeat.

I think you might put some more thought into this.

If the refrigerator is under warranty, the LL is waiting for the factory to do the repairs.

In most states, you can not withhold rent or do repairs and deduct them without permission in writing. So, if you want to do either of these things, you will have to get permission from the courts. The court will escrow your rent money and pay the landlord after the repairs are done. You never get to just simply not pay rent.

Contact your local housing authority and they can tell you how to escrow your rent in your local area.

By the way, if it were me, I'd buy a $50 refrigerator off of Craigslist and give my 30 day notice and move out. At a very minimum, I'd have an ice chest to keep my food from spoiling.

Good point and one I failed to mention.

Those Energy Saver swithes are great if you live in a dry climate.

They cause operational issues if used not according to instructions.
