Hello, I have an eviction in Nevada (i do not believe the eviction was my fault, however the "roommate" wasnt on the lease, my name obviously was so i have to pay for it), i recently moved to California. Will i be able to get into an apartment here in CA or will the eviction stop me until i can pay it off? thank you
Doesn't matter whose fault it is, it's in your name, it's your fault.
I see two red flags: the eviction and the illegal roommate.
It all depends on the landlord you find. Some say no to any and all evictions, some say no to evictions under certain age, some don't care and will rent to anyone. You should pay it, you owe it, but paying it off isn't going to make it go away.
You're also going to find that many landlords don't appreciate illegal tenants....I see you found that out the hard way. Don't repeat it.
