Hi there, this will be a strange question. We will be renting a house that is next door to an apartment complex
with a pool. I realize that we are not entitled to use said pool unless we are renting in the complex. But I have had several people now suggest to me that we talk to the manager of the complex and see if we would be able
to pay a fee, however it work, to use the pool. I’d love to be able to use a pool this summer and we won’t have a public one close by - however it would have never occurred to me to even ask this and I don’t know if this is even worth considering because it may not be legally permissible. Does anyone have any insight on this?
If my insurance found out I was selling access to the public they would drop me in a heartbeat. Pools are already expensive enough to insure without having non-resident guests. There is language in my lease about pool use, rules, injuries, etc. that protect me so without you signing a lease it would be a gigantic no.
You can always ask, but I doubt they'd be interested in accommodating this request.
Legally there's no issue, but I doubt their insurance would be thrilled with this. Also the residents of the complex won't want their pool getting crowded with non residents.
We have a subdivision in town that I know has a pool and the next neighborhood over can pay a fee and opt in to pool usage. So some do allow this sort of arrangement. So I agree it doesn't hurt to ask. If they say no, they say no.
Quickly make friends with a resident in the apartment complex. Go as a guest.
