Hi there, this will be a strange question. We will be renting a house that is next door to an apartment complex
with a pool. I realize that we are not entitled to use said pool unless we are renting in the complex. But I have had several people now suggest to me that we talk to the manager of the complex and see if we would be able
to pay a fee, however it work, to use the pool. I’d love to be able to use a pool this summer and we won’t have a public one close by - however it would have never occurred to me to even ask this and I don’t know if this is even worth considering because it may not be legally permissible. Does anyone have any insight on this?

If my insurance found out I was selling access to the public they would drop me in a heartbeat. Pools are already expensive enough to insure without having non-resident guests. There is language in my lease about pool use, rules, injuries, etc. that protect me so without you signing a lease it would be a gigantic no.

It used to be rather common so sure... go ahead and ask.

You can always ask, but I doubt they'd be interested in accommodating this request.

Legally there's no issue, but I doubt their insurance would be thrilled with this. Also the residents of the complex won't want their pool getting crowded with non residents.

When I lived in New Orleans, a major suburban hotel sold summer pool usage. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Go ahead and ask, OP. The worse they can do is say no.

We have a subdivision in town that I know has a pool and the next neighborhood over can pay a fee and opt in to pool usage. So some do allow this sort of arrangement. So I agree it doesn't hurt to ask. If they say no, they say no.

That's a little different, though, people don't live there. (we have quite a few hotels here who open their pools to the public for a fee as well)

I'd be unhappy if my apartment complex rented out the pool to outsiders. That is unless they let it be known from the onset that they did this.

Quickly make friends with a resident in the apartment complex. Go as a guest.
