Iron Man 3 came out about a week ago and as today is May Day in most of the world, we have decided to go to the movies. Here a movie ticket is $2.64 and since there are 3 of us the cost will be about $8.00. Because it was an early release the DVD will not be out for another week or so, at a cost of 96 cents.
Normally, Movies here are in English with Spanish sub titles. Because it is not released in the USA yet, they have opted to release it here in Spanish (with no subtitles). As I do not understand Spanish, I will have to see it two times (once for my family) and then buy the DVD for myself to watch one afternoon while my wife is working and my son is in school!
LOL. Hey - maybe you will learn some Spanish while sitting in the theatre!!!
Can't believe the price of those tickets . . . have a blast and leave a review. I plan on seeing it with my son - he has been forwarding me the trailers for weeks now, lol.

‘Iron Man 3’: Third time isn’t quite the charm
“Iron Man 3” is the weakest in the series, and it suffers from confused plotting and more noisy nonsense than even a comic-book movie should have to put up with."
I thought it was very good (did not understand a word) so my wife gave me the plot line and then I could follow the action. DW promised to buy me the English version (when it comes out) But we have close to 1,000 movies in the house and I rarely watch a movie a second time. (For those that do not know) I live in Peru and have 4 multiplex's within a 10 min walk of my apartment. here in Peru the movies (with the exception of children s) are always in English with Spanish subtitles and then released again a week or two later when they have had a chance to Dub them. The price is only on M,T,W and then goes up to $4.21 on the weekends.

I wondered where you were living, and for some reason had it in my mind you were in Spain! So Peru??? This is very interesting. I hope you will share more with us about your life there.
Are you originally from the USA?
Yes, that is quite the bargain on tickets! I am going to have to learn more about Peru - I think my vision of the country is straight out of 1970 . . . sounds like things are very modern there and I am picturing machetes, dirt roads and huts w/ no running water. Oh my. I am showing my ignorance, I know!!!!

I think I'll pass.
Awwww! Well, maybe my sensibilites are not as finely honed as the reviewer for the Globe, hee hee.
Son and I enjoy these types of movies . . . we have been doing this since he was a tiny kiddo. Just the chance to spend some mom and son time outweighs even a disconnected plot. And we like the noisy nonsense, lol.
The senior ticket prices of the two movie theaters which I frequent most often are $9 and $8, for the multi-plex and the art house, respectively. Lately I have been paying $23 and $16, respectively, to see operas on film at those two places (actually, HD broadcasts at the higher price). I've seen five operas in the last three months. Boy, the grey heads really predominate at the opera showings!
Whether a ticket price is "worth it" depends on multiple factors, mostly the strength of one's desire balanced against one's pocketbook. Are old people the only ones who like opera, or are we the only ones who can afford it? A little of both, I suspect.

My son and his fiancee appreciate opera, but most folks I know -- yes - silver heads! You are so right!
I would add - I started taking my son to ballet, opera, art shows, symphony at 4. I think most parents simply don't expose their children to these things at an early age so that they develop an appreciation for them! But then, he was a very intense little guy and sat quietly and took it all in. Not all children are like that.
Tickets are high but the thing is . . . what do you enjoy in life? I can cut back on food and set aside for the tickets! I also don't drive but maybe 2 days a week, so that saves on gas and wear and tear on tires and car in general. To me, you create a lifestyle and budget for it! Some things that are important to me just aren't going to be anything of interest to others . . . I love travelogues on TV! I have also found a lot of free or really inexpensive entertainment from local colleges. That is a huge plus to living in a city w/ a university or in a college town.
I also enjoy some festivals and that is cheap entertainment and a great chance for "people watching," too!
One of the things hubby and I have come to enjoy is finding stuff on YouTube. At Christmas, I searched around and found so many beautiful cathedral services to watch. And livestream! We can hook up our computers to the TV and view it on a bigger screen, but I often sit at my desk and watch stuff off the computer b/c I have a big monitor (cinema, I think it is called).
Life is about as good as you PLAN FOR IT TO BE!!!!
Just watched a movie last nite on Netflix . . . it wasn't a top priority movie for me, but I am glad I watched it b/c it was filmed, in part, near where I live here in NC. "Hunger Games." I would never have chosen to go pay to watch it but it was a fun little movie with some neat comments (implied) on society . . . and it was no charge. Can't beat the price!
