WHY is AARP given access to birth info? (crying, state, years)

I've searched here and can't find anything, I've Googled as well (not sure if I'm using the correct term(s)?) - Anyway - how is that AARP KNOWS when someone will be turning 50? Do they pay the SSA? I, for one, am really annoyed about this - people know about AARP and can join if they wish - why do we get bombarded w/mail from them when they apparently know someones' age? I really feel that this is an invasion of privacy.
Very, very simple. I don't even need to know your name specifically. All I need is to place any name into Google along with a state, and voila! I googled John Anderson California and picked one of the links.

These lists are easily available. Some are very refined; they include vehicle ownership, credit score, and other background information. Driver's license records represent a major source but think how often you give your date of birth on the internet. I can't enter a liquor company's website without doing so. I don't know if the SSA officially sells records but an IT employee could easily provide it. Big companies don't do this; they do business with intermediaries who perform these tasks.
But, really, what's the problem. If you don't care to see a solicitation just toss it unopened.

That's not 'bombarded', that's nothing at all. 'Bombarded' is the medicare advantage junk mail you get when you're 64.

It is annoying to be considered a senior citizen at 50. I keep getting notices about planning my funeral!
