Do it now. Just chant to yourself " No more rainy days." In 2008, my husband was laid off at 59. He was unable to find a job so drew out his UI then segued into SSA at 62. Our home was paid off and our daughter decided she didn't want to attend college. We had some savings so in 2012 bought a truck and truck camper. We have been all over the West exploring national parks and monuments, back country byways and remote parts of the country most people have never been, let alone heard of. Nevada ghost towns like Ophir, Delamar, Park City; all of Utah's national parks; eastern Oregon places like Alvord Desert, Hart Mtn Antelope Refuge, Steens Mt, Whitehorse Ranch; the many waterfalls along Oregon 138; central Idaho around Salmon, Challis and St Maries. We buy our food at grocery stores, Boondock and try to plan our itinerary to explore several states rather than wander all over. We are usually gone from 2-6 weeks. If not now, when?
We also bring our two dogs. If you are 62 or over, be sure to get your Senior Pass. It is now $10 but may increase. It is good until you aren't. Also, good for ½ price camping in federal campgrounds.
Clikrf - how exciting! Like many, seeing our entire country is on my list, and I love the motor home idea so we can bring the pets. What have been your favorite places?
I say go for it! Just remember to include my part of the world on your itinerary. We can go see some amazing places only an hour's drive or so from my home!

Going-To-The-Sun Road, Glacier National Park, Montana is one of my favorite places. I recorded this 3 min video in June of 2016.
I just turned 62 and always dreamed about buying or renting an RV and going across the country. It isn't feasible for a few more years for me but if your health is okay and you can drive without being a danger to others on the road I don't think age should stop you. We had a woman who was 100 years old on our bowling team a few years back.
Better to be on your deathbed remembering all the adventures you went on than lamenting not taking them.
^^^^^^^ I agree, chiluvr1228. I don't want to regret not doing something I have longed to do for so long.
I will admit that I wish I had a companion to go with me, but among my friends, there are none who would want to go on such an adventure. I am sure some might think I've lost my mind.
^^^^^^ Yes, I now have two cats. They will not be abandoned or left uncared for. They will be taken care of. Thank you for worrying about them for me.
They are loved a lot.
