Ten years ago my husband came to this country from England. We had to make the decision whether to stay here and make a go of it or to move over there. He wanted to live here. I said okay.

Now, with what's happening in this country, I wish we had moved over there.

There is some chaos in the UK now due to BREXIT but it wouldn't affect us in retirement. No worries about health care. And now there are grandchildren over there. We had no way of knowing ten years ago.

It's a no brainer. $5M please.

(The only reason I said five years was because that was the time frame you used, but I actually dread the future, period.)

And for those who say technology is not forced on anyone, what about the credit card chipping? Or the keyless ignitions and other, imo, worthless innovations in new cars? (Of course, one has the option of buying an old car, but that brings up a whole other list of issues.) Sure, if you are living like a 1500's independent farmer in the backwoods, that would not apply to you, but anyone who wants to travel and stay in any kind of hotel, try doing that without ANY kind of credit card even if you don't need or want credit! And don't even get me started on all the increased security regulations.

(Well, you asked, lol! )
+5 years might mean a Regeneracy, something similar to the unity of the late New Deal / WW2, and major push back on a number of bad trends.

You already know that if you would have done something different ten years ago your life would have turned out differently.

So, if you could go back ten years and do something different, what is to say that something ended up making you die 5 years later?

Embrace the past and remember it.
Enjoy today.
Plan for the future as though you will be around ten years to enjoy it, keeping in mind, your past experiences.

But mostly, enjoy today, and your life will be better.

Five years forward and $5M would be my choice. I'd help out a few people financially and I wouldn't mind being 73, semi-rich, and retired since I'm still working at 68.

On second thought... if I could take a copy of all the winning lottery numbers with me I'd go back in time gladly.

just one set of Powerball numbers to a pot that was not won by anyone no matter how big or small. The smallest is 40 mil so I could easily and very comfortably live on 20 mil.
