And when a thong is viewed under clothing, it can be sexy, and sometimes a signal of readiness. It also can declare that one sees oneself as a sexual being.
guess that sums it up well .

In short, my motivation to even try to look "attractive" is completely shot.

Do any of you feel this way? And if not, how do YOU stay motivated to be as attractive as you can be?
Working out with Cathe Friedrich for the past 30 years has been a consistent motivating force in my life. I have always worn makeup, I get my hair and nails done at consistent intervals, and I have always been a clothes horse. I don't see myself ever getting to the point where I no longer care about my appearance. If I look terrible, I feel terrible. Are there things about aging that I dislike? Certainly. However, in my opinion, every day above ground is a glorious day and I will carry on as such.

My motivation for maintaining my appearance is simply an internal desire. I am not trying to hold on to my youth - I just want to age with grace.

That was from back in the day when the challenge was getting enough food to eat. Fat was an indication of wealth and high social status, therefore was desirable. These days, food is cheap and abundunt so thin and fit are the indicators for intelligence, discipline, and high social status.

I know. It's tongue in cheek comment. I don't always put smiley face after such comment. I thought it was obvious.

Awwww....thanks Lily!! And, actually, I wish I WOULD have kept all my "skinny" clothes years back when I couldn't fit into them anymore! Once I got skinny again, I had nothing to wear! I went to the second-hand store and bought some clothes, then when they got too big too, I "donated" them back and got more, smaller, stuff!!
Most of the final size I still have! I love old comfortable jeans and shorts.

It is so discouraging. I have lost 10-20 pounds over and over. I know diets don't work long-term unless one changes their eating habits forever. To lose that amount of weight I have to go down to an insane limit of calories. Can't do that forever.

Back to needing to lose it again. I know the see-saw isn't good. And it makes it tougher to lose each time.

As for makeup, I recently stopped wearing some of the stuff I used to use. It's just too hot sometimes. But some eye makeup and light lipstick helps. When it gets cooler and my tan fades I'll wear a little more. I do try to keep my hair cut and fixed nicely.

I don't see any reason to let myself go just because I'm retired. I don't stay fit for looks, I do it for my health.

Plus, I'd have to purposely change my normal diet in a big way in order to put on too much weight, which wouldn't be something I'd be inclined to do.

Oh, LOL. Isn't this the retirement forum? I have yet to see someone of average retirement age with fit-enough buttocks to highlight them to this degree.

Yoga pants, maybe. Thongs, ick.

I spend a lot of time on the elliptical, and get no complaints. /lol I'm a little younger than average retirement age though.

Haha, I have very slim butt, I can wear all my kids' underwear, but no thongs for me.
I'm more worried about my hair then my underwear.
