That's what I'd like to see.

Someone needs to make a decoy package with a bank dye-pack.

This will leave the thieves red-handed for a couple weeks.

I like this idea:

1. Save any and all Amazon boxes. Especially big ones.

2. Use them for boxing up trash, especially old appliances that you can't throw out and so otherwise would have to take to Best Buy and pay to have then take it off your hands.

3. Leave on porch, thieves will remove your trash for you.

Especially handy way to get rid of old portable tvs.

Wayfair boxes might work for bigger items. Ancient computer monitors, things like that. Extra bonus, thieves get a backache as well as your trash.

I think that's great. I would do that in a heartbeat. Only problem is, I've never had any packages stolen off my porch, even when they were left in clear view from the street. I receive a lot of shipments from suppliers, plus the usual Amazon swag.

All I can figure is our local tweakers are underachievers. Or maybe they're spontaneously combusting. We had our third suspicious late-night explosion/fire just a few nights ago in Our Fair (California) City. It turns out cooking meth is not a wise long-term career choice.

Crooks are using USPS Informed Delivery to sign up for someone's address to see what packages and checks are coming then they steal them.

Sign Your Address Up For USPS Informed Delivery Before Scammers Do

Postal Service's Informed Delivery system could be used to steal your mail

I saw this yesterday... the guy was so into getting it right that he was as fascinating and the revenge he came up with. Funny.

I don't live in the U.S. None of the delivery services where I live leave a package if you are not home, unless you direct them to leave it with someone at another address. They send you email telling you when they are returning. Life is a bit more leisurely, my Amazon delivery guy and I have a coffee down the street on his lunch hour.

I love it.

Not to side track the thread, but:

But, I DO wish more people were educated about the "X" in Christmas.

It does NOT take the "Christ" out of "Christmas ", it Actually puts it firmly in there.

Tye greek character "chi" [X] and "rho" [P] are an ancient and international symbol for "Christ". Perhaps perhaps people are familiar with the symbol that looks like an "X" with a "P" overlaid on it? As a religious symbol?

That is the ancient Greek symbol for Christ.

So the "X" in "XMAS" spells out a shortened version of "CHRISTmas".

LQQK it up people!!!

And a Merry Xmas to you OP!!!

May that inventor have many laughs!

No, they would just open the boxes down the road and dump the trash there when they found out nothing good was inside. Nasty things that explode and stick to them are better.
