As long as we already have two separate threads about Xmas (spelled specifically to aggravate a certain segment of the readership) gifts, and since many retirees (for the forum police) like to shop online and have gifts delivered via Amazon and other retailers, I thought I'd start a new thread to show how a NASA engineer got back at thieves stealing packages from his front porch. (Whew, that was a long sentence.)
I did a stupid thing a coupe of weeks ago. I should have removed all my old addresses from my accounts after I moved, but I didn't. An Etsy purchase got delivered to my old address! My bf went over there, and the first time they said the dad had it in his truck and they'd call when he got home. No call! We were sure they were going to try to keep it (was a hoodie, nothing expensive). We went back the next day and they gave it to us.
Such a perfect form of revenge! Harmless, very, very irritating, and gathers evidence which might aid in prosecuting these jerks. Hurrah for Mark Rober! THAT will teach package thieves to stay far, far away from NASA engineers!
I LOVE this guy!! My new hero too. I NEVER thought there are so many Dbags in the world that steal packages. I would never stay living in a place with that many thefts from the same locale. It happens around here, but nothing like the frequency on this video!
A neighbor of mine puts a Counter Assault pepper spray canister in a box with a rigged trigger. Works great, especially on the ones who lean in lips first. But then we only see the hardiest of package thieves out here in the boonies.
So your lighthearted thread is rooted in an intentional desire to offend people?
No, that was just a pleasant byproduct.

Now if there was only a way to get revenge on the delivery person who was supposed to get a signature, but left it on the porch anyway...
