I love bingo. I wish I knew someone here who would go to Bingo with me. The H wouldn't play bingo if the prize was eternal life. I work until 7-7:30 which makes it hard, but I'm sure there's one on a weekend night. I just don't want to go alone. I used to go with a friend when we were both 19 (so much for old people). There was a children's hospital that had a gigantic bingo hall near us for fundraising and we went every weekend we could afford it. They had the best skinny hot dogs that snapped when you bit them and back then everyone (including us) smoked like chimneys. We used to giggle when some of the people didn't get the numbers they wanted and told the caller to "eat it." It was a great night out.
The AZ casinos have some giant jackpots and you can use a machine to track your bingo
numbers and no dauber is needed. I can't watch all those cards so I play the minimum which is around 20. There are different games too, making an "L" or a cross, or a picture window. The place is usually jammed with at least 100 seniors. Food is cheap and soda is free. There are smoking and non smoking areas.
One of my co workers won $48000 playing bingo in the casino.
Was watching some old television programs on MeTV and a few took me back to remembering how my grandmother and her friends all loved going to Bingo games at their church. It seemed to me (as a kid anyway) that all "older" people went to Bingo, especially the women.
These days don't hear that much about Bingo, has it dropped off the radar for the "senior set"?
I've heard the 80+ crowd still plays it. I don't know, I never found bingo especially interesting.
One tiny town I lived in until recently had occasional Bingo nights open to everyone. Sometimes used as fund raisers. Standing room only each time, not enough cards. Lots of families with kids, adults of all ages. The games would go on so long the "announcers" would need to take shifts. Very popular.

Many people like it because its not so absorbing you can't chit chat with your table mates. I'd suspect that, plus the fact that no one can become too much of an expert and win everything is part of the enjoyment
OMG, you haven't been to a senior center or a senior affordable housing complex. They are all about Bingo, and please, save me from it. If there is anything that will make you feel like you are near death, it will be some young social worker hired by your apartment complex treating you like a 2 year old who is supposed to be thrilled because they are screaming at the top of their lungs (of course, we all must be hard of hearing) OOOOOOO-999999999!!!!!!!!!!!! BBBBBBBBBBBBBB-33333333333333!!!!!
Puleez.
There are a few who put up with it, because there are so few who show up that they usually rake in all the prizes. But, it is seriously obnoxious.
And the music they play, if they do, is Benny Goodman. Holy God. Today's seniors grew up on Jimmy Hendrix. Can we please move forward? Move beyond Bingo and penochle and bridge?
If any thing makes you feel like you're about to die, it's these senior events.
