November 28
8 years retired

Heading out to a steakhouse later to eat like I'm going to the electric chair in the morning.

Does anyone else celebrate their retirement date annually? If so... how?

Ha, never have, but Feb 27 will be 8 years for me! Good idea.

July 1 is my retirement anniversary. It'll be 15 years, I'll grill a rib eye steak, have a good cigar and some bourbon and shout out loudly that I NEVER have to work again WOO HOO!

This weekend I'll be having a pre -retirement celebration. Will have many more to come before the real deal. Unfortunately

May was 8 years for me, but I've never celebrated it per se. However, I am thankful and appreciative of every day I've had in retirement.

I certainly don't need the excuse of my retirement date just to celebrate it! That happens automatically every morning an alarm doesn't jolt me awake before the crack of dawn. It's been almost 6 years, but I still get that little pleasant frisson when daylight wakes me up instead.

A nice aspect of retirement is waking up naturally.

I took a train to the city most of my life. The station is three miles away. I sometimes wake up before dawn hearing the sound of the train pulling into the station, think of the poor slobs waiting for the 6:02 in the cold dark, smile, roll over, and go back to sleep.

I just say, “I never have to get up at 5:30 a.m. again” & keep sleeping.
