My mother in law has lived in RI over 16 years and that is were my husband grew up. He says it's a beautiful state and a good place to raise a family. I am from California and know I will have to get use to the cold. I just want a place I can call home and raise my kids and everyone is like family. I am not a city girl at all, more of a home body. Tired of moving my kids around and ready to settle down. Can you please give me any POSITIVE feedback you may have? I have already heard all of the bad and just looking for some encouraging information. THANK YOU!!!!

It is great you have jobs waiting for you! Encouragiong info? You have to make your own assessment of Little Rhody. It is a great state, but we Rhode Islanders love to demean it whenever we can. It is our birthright! We have made it what it is, truly "love it or leave it". Your kids "ages" will love the winter sports and snow. Too bad it comes with freezing temps! But is makes us appreciate the other 3 seasons even more. Nothing beats a New England Autumn. In the distance of a normal Californian commute you can be in three different states in Southern New England! History, culture, 4 seasons; what more could you ask for? Obviously more jobs, fewer taxes and less political corruption , but that is the wish in most of these 50 states. Your Californian dollar will go much further here. Good luck here and enjoy.
