Yes, a politician who is actively working on fixing a major issue in the state- so all you Chicken Littles and doomsayers need to get behind her efforts.

She said that while she has not crystallized the details of what she will propose to the Assembly
Is name calling really neccessary to prod people to get behind a proposal that hasn't even been made or defined yet?

Most states have this problem, unfunded state pensions....welcome to pension cuts and higher taxes as the boomer bubble rolls through the system.

The name calling wouldn't be necessary if we didn't have so many naysayers dominating the RI forum and constantly writing that the state is doomed.

(And of course half already live out of state and are probably bitter because they secretly regret their moves.)

I sure do agree with you, Hollytree, that we should support General Treasurer Gina Raimando, who certainly is applying herself to do the job of straightening out the state pension mess. That is why we overwhelmingly voted for her, and elected her to do, and we must demand that our state legislators address this important issue which is destroying this state financially. If we don't demand their attention, they will stall, and fool around with endless studies and commissions and little helpful will result from their shenanigans. Gina is showing herself to be a woman of action!

Well, if it makes you feel any better MOST states have similar issues. RI is one of the more troubled states but they are far from alone.
