37 degrees on a school night. Nice game to choose as the basis for the accusation that the Pawsox are inflating numbers.

Worcester is bitter.

I do not want a replica Fenway in downtown Pawtucket. There is only one Fenway and it is in Boston. No need for another. I want a Pawtucket stadium design that pays homage to its home city and state. Lots of brick with influences of the old mills (arches, windows, smokestack?) which fully integrates the adjoining Blackstone River (outside open concourse along the river) and evening illuminated arches of the Route 95 bridge. Open outfield should match the curve in Rte 95 giving passerby a good view to hopefully entice them to visit. I want it to have a name such as Hasbro Park and serve Narragansett Beer, Dells, Olneyville NY System hot wieners, and IGGY's chowder and clamcakes. I want something that celebrates Pawtucket and all of Rhode Island.

If you weren't aware, there a replica Fenway in Fort Myers (JetBlue Park aka Fenway South). The idea of a replica is only to make the field the same - so that the players will be familiar with the quirkiness of Fenway. The Green Monster at JetBlue is not quite as tall, and there's some seating in the middle of it, but everything else is exact. Again, it's only the field that would be replicated. It has nothing to do with the name, or the food/drinks, or the materials used for the stadium.

I am aware of that. The AA Seadogs park in Portland also has a green monster and follows the Fenway dimensions. Pawtucket doesn't need to follow suit. It is not really a novelty anymore.

Yeah, Hadlock is similar but not exact like JetBlue. Still a very cool place.

Again, replicating the field is for the benefit of the team (not just some novelty).

The training aspect has been discussed elsewhere in this thread ages ago. But why should a publicly owned baseball stadium cater its dimensions to one particular MLB franchise? What if, down the line, the AAA club disaffiliates from the MLB club? What if the AAA club packs up and leaves town--what replacement minor league ball club will want to play in quirky Fenway dimensions?

This was from Hadlock Field in May of 2011. They were hosting the (then) New Britain Rock Cats. It indeed had a mini-Fenway look to it. (Today, the New Britain franchise is the Hartford Yard Goats. The Rock Cats were the AA Twins then. Today, Hartford is the AA Rockies.)

This is the Boston Red Sox we're talking about. The likelihood of any of that happening is miniscule. But, if it ever did happen, the dimensions could be changed.

I disagree. Teams threatening to leave town if their demands aren't met is the primary negotiating strategy they use. Just reference the present situation! The likelihood of that happening again down the line is much more than minuscule. At some point they are bound to want something else and pull out the same tool.

There are a number of possibilities that could sever the affiliation between the MLB franchise and the AAA franchise. There could be a rift between ownership groups, for instance.

They've been an affiliate for 45 freaking years. Using random fears as a reason not to do something is fiscally insane.
