Hi,
I'm going to be moving to Providence in June and I wanted to get some opinions on the best pizza there. The only East Coast pizza I've had was in New Haven(CT), and it was excellent. So if anyone has a favorite pizza place to suggest, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Well most people are going to say Casserta's Pizza on Spruce St. in Federal Hill.
They make excellent pizza.

But..... on the other end of Spruce st. is Bob and Timmy's....Their grilled pizza is out of this world.

Can't go wrong with either one IMO... but I could eat that whole grilled pizza by myself.

Mikey

I don't know if it's the best, but Antonio's on Thayer st. is damn good.

My favorite is Sicilia's on Atwells, but only if you want thick, stuffed pizza.
Antonio's is good, and I'm a big fan of Minerva's in Wayland Square.
I'll tell you what's NOT very good - Twin's Pizza in North Providence. I had it recommended to me so I gave it a shot. When I called they asked if I wanted it cooked "well done" or not.(???) I was very let down. Not good at all.

Also related - don't fall for the "Rhode Island pizza trick" as I call it. They have "pizza" there that is just bread/dough with sauce on it. NO CHEESE!!!

That's usually referred to as "bakery pizza" or "pizza strips". I'd never heard of such a thing when we moved here, but my kids have grown to love it, and I enjoy them too! Pizza strips are served cold, btw.
