1415 cases, for "a 9.6% positive rate. If only those testing negative for the first time are counted, the positive rate was 39.5%." https://www.providencejournal.com/st...es/3824025001/
Frightening numbers. And yet, we can eat in restaurants and go to the mall and holiday market.

Well, I did say a few weeks ago something along the lines of "North Dakota here we come"! It would be a good question for Raimondo to address, why we are by far the worst in the region. It is very concerning. I also did not find her discussion on reduction in mobility/traffic during the press conference reassuring. 5% reduction relative to the week prior last year, 10% reduction this year compared to prior week. Seems like the pause is only having a small effect.

This data shows RI as now being #1 in the country for new number of cases per 100K. That's #1 in the country.

This should be all over the local news. It is not. An exception is golocalprov (here is a nice comparison between Vermont's policies and ours; we are very different states - but we've been far too lax; https://www.golocalprov.com/news/wha...id-19-pandemic). A huge failure on the part of local politicians, journalists and health care providers/epidemiologists. Here is Dr. Alexander-Scott arguing that we are a very dense state and are a leader in testing (but what about NYC or NJ, or Boston)? Are people afraid to speak up? I and others have long warned here that we were approaching disaster, but even I though that by now Raimondo would have stepped on the breaks (and I don't mean a "pause").

Maxx Fitness gyms to close after judge grants state’s restraining order

"A Superior Court judge on Friday granted the state’s request for a temporary restraining order against Maxx Fitness Clubzz, meaning its locations in Lincoln and Warren have to shut down for the time being."

Yep. Minnesota got a bit better and dropped to #2.

Surprising about RI as we have been following considering all the rules in place.

Here in Florida our governor just put out an order to prevent mask mandates across the state and our numbers are also climbing. It is pretty much a free for all as far people concerned about the virus.

This is the first summer and Christmas we have not traveled back to RI.

Hopefully by spring 2021 we will have an organized distribution of the vaccine.

Understand completely. I usually spend much of the winter in Florida. Not this year. It's an anti-science wild, wild west down there. Who wants to be the last one to die before the vaccine comes? Not I.

Nice to see your name again JBtwinz.

You might be interested to see this data since you're a nurse. Pretty well laid out on many counts- look at the death rate chart.... also has a breakdown of who is dying.

We also have one of the highest TESTING RATES in the country...
