If you want to take a deep dive into the 2020 election, start a thread in the Politics Forum and I'll happily join ya. (I'm sure many others would too.)

In the abstract, dishonesty and cheating simply cannot be completely removed from any human endeavor in pursuit of wealth or power. Political elections included. Perhaps specifically so. Does there currently exist a shortage of history books?

The secret is to convince at least 30% of the population there is no such thing as truth & facts. That only their feelings & resentments are real. Then democracy is at peril.

Typically cryptic. Would you care to elaborate? Some of us might still be unaware of your particular truth and facts. 3048 posts and you haven't failed yet to include yourself in the select group of those enlightened by absolute truth and fact. Seems almost godlike. Even to this atheist. I can't help but wonder though, if those you deride mightn't suffer the same delusion.

Elaborate? My current concern with the threat of authoritarian fascism to American democracy isn't a secret here. You disregard it out of hand. That simple. Regardless, we atheists don't have to agree on everything or anything. Except, of course, that there's no god.

This is not a thing.

In fact, I see more receipts and evidence now that I look more at right leaning sources, than I ever did when consuming mainstream (now Left Wing) news.

It was one of the first stark contrasts I saw.

The real trick is to get people to be so close minded that they write off anything outside of their bubble.

But it's working less and less these days.

Are you referring to the forced shuttering of small businesses (big ones did just fine!), schools/vaccine mandates implemented by an unaccountable and unelected administrative state?

Or maybe it was the most violent and costly riots in history that the news chose to distort/ignore?

Perhaps the creation of a dystopian Disinformation Board to monitor and shut down free speech?

I could go on and on.

But you're right, I do see fascism there.

I don't see it in mean tweets that accompany a thriving economy with low inflation, low gas prices and a generally peaceful less chaotic World.

And no BS "Palace Intrigue" from the worthless corporate Alphabet Media is going to change that.

Mr. Fung will be sure to remind everyone when his opponent inevitably brings up "JANUARY 6th!!!!!"

Joe Biden is now 20 points underwater in the Ocean State, and he has now become the first President in modern polling to drop into the 20s nationally.

And just a reminder, the Civiqs tracking poll is a Lefty poll that is given a sterling rating by good ole' Nate Silver.

Hey Dems: You're gonna need a bigger boat.

That Biden isn't up to the moment now is obvious to friend, foe & anyone otherwise interested. He met his important moment in 2020 & I'm grateful - but it is history now. I worry for the next 2 years. He has the right words, but they're delivered with such vacancy & inability, it's sometimes scary.

Considering what you generally write about politics in this thread and others, your 2nd to the last line is both ironic & worthy of a chuckle.
As have long opined and said, we need to "..get outside of our own media comfort zone." Failure to do so prevents the gathering in of a realistic and honest appraisal of affairs.

Correlating with this, I also believe in the mantra that goes, "Facts are stubborn things."

There are plenty of online sites for NONPARTISAN evaluations of many aspects of society & current events. To not look for them before we spread something on the basis that we want to believe it and heard our favorite tv presenter say it or we heard from our sister-in-law, etc, etc is regrettable.

I long have practiced this and before I retired, I and the most conservative politically-speaking man in the office shared many conversations in which we disagreed on much in terms of opinions.
However, we did agree on the value of the sources for FACT verification.

We used 3 such fact-finding sites because we both valued HONESTY & FACTS more than we did the spouting of talking points. Anyone concerned with truth-telling & a realistic appraisal of current events should feel the same. The bottom line is, so what if you can spout the most if those things are not FACT-BASED. What's the point in lying or spreading misinformation? To do says what about us?

Unfortunately, this tread and others here on the Rhode Island forum seemed to most often lack anything from the op other than talking points. And that is what drew me here to comment again and again.
