The mill rate on cars in Little Compton is $13.90. With Prop 2 1/2, you’d only save excise tax money in the first year. It would be a wash in the 2nd year and then cheaper in Massachusetts beyond that. Insurance is a different story. City of Boston auto insurance rates are absurd.

Not sure I understand? The mill rate throughout Mass. is $25.. Prop 2 1/2 is for real estate taxes. I thought it it drops similarly in RI for the 2nd year, 3rd year and so on...?
But yes, the real killer in Boston is the insurance rates. You're going to come out ahead in LC regardless.
