Odd that the two accounts differ over whether the chase occurred on Pocasset or Cranston St.

And my word, surely WJAR can hire better writers and editors?! That was painful

I tend to go with GoLocal's accounts on these stories for their greater detail and accuracy. Although, this more recent article only mentions that the chase started in Silver Lake and that he flipped the car on Rte. 10.

Forum readers have been repeatedly told to avoid the bike path in Olneyville, this should serve as a reminder of what goes down in that area (it's also of course adjacent to the dangerous MANTON HEIGHTS housing projects). Edward Robinson, 34, was arrested in firearms charges and for ramming a police cruiser.

Providence Police Seize Guns and Ammunition After SUV Crashes Into Cruiser

https://www.golocalprov.com/news/pro...s-into-cruiser

"About Incident Shortly after noon on Saturday, police said they were on patrol in the area of Atwells Avenue and Manton Avenue when they observed a Silver Acura SUV speeding on Atwells.
Police said they then followed the vehicle when it began operating erratically. The vehicle then pulled into the King Street Commons Apartments parking lot where police said it appeared to park.
As officers attempted to approach the vehicle on foot, they said the vehicle operator drove in reverse nearly striking the police cruiser, fleeing the scene.
Police said they then continued to pursue the SUV from a distance that was continuing to speed and operate in a dangerous manner, colliding with at least two other vehicles.
According to police, the SUV then struck a tree on Plainfield Street.
As officers attempted to approach vehicle, police said the passenger and the driver — later identified as Edward Robinson, age 34, tried to flee on foot.
The vehicle was not put in park, say police, and it slid backward, striking a police cruiser.
Police said they were immediately able to detain the passenger at which time he said he had a “legal†gun in the vehicle.
Upon searching the SUV, police said they found multiple guns -- with obliterated serial numbers -- and magazines with live ammunition, which police seized.
Police said they were alerted to Robinson fleeing into a nearby barbershop at which point he was located and arrested without incident. "

Providence Police seize multiple guns. With filed serial numbers. And live ammunition. And arrest the violent thugs in possession. At enormous risk to their own personal safety. "Little to nothing"?........"B******s"? I continue to hope that these bitter detractors will enlighten us as to their own invaluable contributions to society. Providing of course, that they can do so without undue "rancor".

Fwiw folks, here is the final map of serious violent crimes for 2022. It was a very quiet summer compared to 2021, although the October-December period was nearly tied for the number of incidents (112 in 2022 vs. 115 in 2021). Crime is fairly more spread out in 2022. More problems on Federal Hill (away from Atwells), and an increasing number of incidents on the East Side as well. Downtown has gotten worse. Charles is now a war zone.

^Map is a useful tool in guiding a home buyer (or even renter) on where in town to avoid. "Nothing to see here, move along" (so says the resident slumlord)
