Well, I took the plunge and am buying a house in Richmond!
It's located on Floyd at the upper west end of the museum district. It's just what I wanted - walking distance to just about everything.
Thanks to everyone on this forum. The honesty, truthfullness, and reading through the lines really helped me.
Now.... I'm not sure I'll be accepted as a 'Richmonder', but at least I've bought a house here and am serious about living here.
Hope to see you all down on Cary St.

Jamier

Wow what a great location! You're walking distance to Carytown, Ukrop's or Elwood Thompson (broken link) (or Kroger if you don't like local grocers ), a true butcher's shop - Belmont Butchery, museums, etc etc. Congrats!

The best thing you can do is get involved/stay active in the community.

Congrats Jamier!! you picked a GREAT place to live. If you are open and good natured, you'll find the folks around are as well. There are a lot transplants, so you'll find your niche. And make sure you go to Buddy's and have a great cheeseburger and watch the Monday night football games!!

I think you will enjoy Richmond Some outsiders may feel its stuffy and steeped in the old south tradition, but when it comes to shove, Richmonders love new people ! They're fresh and exotic.
