For people moving to Richmond...

You're Very Richmond if....

-You live in the West End

-Your first name sounds like a last name

-Your idea of multiculturalism is inviting someone from Chesterfield county to your dinner party

-You remember when the Landmark Theater was "The Mosque"

-When you're in a room with other Richmonders you discover you're all somehow related

-You claim to be related to Pocohantas

-The very mention of the word "snow" and you rush to Ukrop's to buy bread and milk

-You refer to things as before the War and after the War

-You know that Shockoe Slip has nothing to do with women's underwear

-You know that the real Richmond is north of the "Rivah"

-You know at least one girl named Fontaine

-You reccommend all the wonderful local museums to out of towners that you never visit yourself.

Closed minded? Its just a little bit of satire.

And you have to admit.... most of the stuff on there is pretty accurate.

I'm a Richmonder myself.

Default Richmond

Loved the quotes on our capital city. Did you ever hear that Richmond was the only city in the U.S. where the ladies still wore white gloves when they went downtown to shop?

Alas, for better or worse most of the things that made Richmonders Richmonders has gone. For a Southern city it's filled with darn Yankee carpet baggers.

BTW. Please don't ask where I'm originally from.

I have to slightly disagree. Richmond seems to have somehow escaped the Northern Virginia virus (at least for time being) Richmond feels more southern to me than other places like Atlanta or Nashville. There maybe more people from the outside than years past (and thats not necessarily a bad thing), but it has more locals than you'd find in places like research triangle, NC, or Myrtle Beach.

Definitely not like NOVA or NC, but it's harder and harder to find that old Richmond accent and when people hear "You live in the West End" they think of Henrico and not Richmond.
Considering what the city was like 20 years ago I think that they were fading away back then. I really believe the latest round of Yankee city folk is helping bring back parts of the city. I know if they had those lofts available along the James my wife and I would have grabbed one in a NY minute. I'm glad that the city is coming back and wish Henrico had slowed down in it's growth.

And now their prices are even better. I can't imagine Richmond without those stores.
