Hello everybody, I am moving to Richmond VA, near monroe park. I have been researching the area and it seems that there are no "big stores" such as costco, best buy, Target, Trader Joes, Walmart etc. After some research, I learned that the Short pump area has a lot of them on Broad street. I am mainly interested shopping near the Short Pump park area (it has all the stores I mentioned) but I do not have a car.
I looked at GRTC's services and it appears the Gaskins route does not go that far. So I am left with the question, are there any other transportation alternatives that would take me from the monroe park area to the best buy, walmart, trader joes in Short pump?

Not except for a taxi. That would be kinda expensive though (in fact, more expensive than renting a cheap/economy class car for the day, which can be done for as little as $25).

There is a Target on the bus line (Bus #6, Broad street from downtown to Willow Lawn), but even that requires a bit of an inconvenient trek from the bus stop to the actual store.

There is a bus (#2 I believe, to Regency Square area) that would put you within walking distance (walk across the mall parking lot and across the street) from a Walmart.

Here's an idea (something I've considered before, but never quite followed through with): gather a group of co-workers, friends, or even strangers and create a sort of ride/car sharing network. You could coordinate your trips to these suburban retail centers and split the costs of getting there (via taxi, or rented car).
