Relocating to Richmond from St. Louis (Glen Allen: houses, neighborhood, construction)

My partner and I are being relocated from St. Louis to Richmond in the next few months. His job is taking him to Glen Allen - I am in healthcare IT and can work most anywhere remotely as a contract employee, but will be looking for full-time positions at one of the larger hospital chains there (preferably Bon Secours).

Our current house in STL is approximately 2,100sf, a 2-story brick house built in 1908 - was $165k when we bought in 2010. It was completely gutted to the studs and reimagined from the ground up with all new systems.

Hoping we can find something in the price range of $150-199k near his work, preferably newer construction. We liked living in an old(er) house, but since the entire thing was new on the inside, it was virtually maintenance-free.

Any suggestions on good communities on the north end of town by Glen Allen?

We will be traveling to Richmond for a pre-acceptance trip to look around in the next few weeks.

You'd like Bellevue. The houses (1920s) are in good shape, and the community is tremendous. It's a north-side city neighborhood, not far from the border to the counties, and in good proximity to Glen Allen.

The houses will run anywhere from around $160 - $300+. Although $160 would probably get you something pretty small.
