My husband and I are planning on moving to Richmond in a month or less. I start a new position in 5 weeks. I need to commute to clinics in Mechanicsville, Glen Allen and Midlothian for my job. We found a seemingly great house in Gum Spring, but the inspection found lots of issues. We are looking again and running out of time.
My husband saw a great house in Goochland this week on 5 acres. It is stretching my commute to 50+ minutes, but it might be worth it. I just found another today in King William on 10 acres that looks very nice. I don't mind a drive and I will only be working 16 shifts total a month.
We are driving in from out of State in two days for another whirlwind house search. What is the consensus on King William and Goochland? Does one area have any worrisome issues or upcoming changes that we should know about?
We have looked at about 40 houses in person thus far in each and every corner of Richmond's suburbs. We don't have children so schools are not an issue. My husband is a realtor and will be traveling all over for his job as well.
Thanks!

Goochland is a wide county. The eastern part is more convenient to shopping. If schools aren't a concern and you want land, it seems like a good option. Have you looked in Hanover?

Of these three, Mechanicsville, Glen Allen and Midlothian, which will have the highest percentage of visits? Look at Hanover or Powhatan.

I'd suggest taking a look at Powhatan as well.
