Hello everyone,

My husband may be going for a job interview in Richmond shortly. Can anyone recommend nice areas within a 30 minute commute? The closer to water, the better! Low crime is also very important. I would need to find a job as well. Right now I am a receptionist in a medical office, but I am currently taking classes in human resources, so I hope to get an entry level job doing that if possible. Our daughter is starting college and is in a community college to start off until she decides which path to take, so a nearby cc would be great! Thanks for any suggestions!

There are quite a few. It depends on your budget. If you like water, maybe woodlake and etc.

I love within a ten minute walk to the James river and I love that, however my area isn't suburban. Maybe somewhere in the south side , if public school k-12 isn't an issue that would open up your search a lot

Our housing budget would be a maximum of $180,000. We would be able to afford an $800/mo mortgage that didn't include utilities. We definitely don't want to live in a city, but I don't want to be in the middle of the woods with no neighbors either!

Maybe try westover hills area near nickel bridge. That seems to be the most affordable with James River close access.

Yes, but it may have become too pricey for you. Not sure...

There are some affordable homes along Hugenot Road between the river and Robious Road - and not far from there up to Hugenot bridge and river. That includes Bon Air area.
