I am a single straight 36 year old male moving to Richmond. Thoughts on where I should move? Also, I am sure this is covered somewhere but how is the dating scene? Thanks for your time.

You might want to provide more information, price range, what you want to move into, what area will you be working, transportation needs if any?

Good Point

Looking to spend $1200-$1500/month
Prefer a loft type apartment with other professionals 28-38 years old
I will be working in the Short Pump area but I want to live downtown. I want to be able to walk to a gym, coffee shops and restaurants.
Transportation is not an issue.

Check out Shockoe Bottom, Rocketts Landing, Scotts Addition, Tobacco Row, Manchester, the Fan, Cary Town and Museum District

That's a good budget for Richmond and you should pretty much be able to live wherever you'd like. I'd focus on Scott's Addition, the Fan and the Museum District, or maybe one of the high rises downtown. You should be able to find what you're looking for in any of those neighborhoods, and the choice will come down more to whether you like high-rise neighborhoods (downtown), old charming rowhouse / low-rise apartment neighborhoods (Fan for slightly higher density / Museum District for slightly more green space - but they're very similar), or loft-style renovated warehouse-style neighborhoods (Scott's Addition). Fan/MD/Scott's Addition are all pretty close to each other and walkable to each other.

I would recommend Scotts addition, plenty of existing/ new places with parking usually on the premise. Good access to interstate to get out to Short Pump. Better shopping options than Shockoe Bottom or Manchester and what seems to be a better behaving night life than you hear on the news for other areas.

Check out the apartments at 3031 Norfolk St in Scott's Addition or some in City Center like the Millers and Rhodes building. (Which I thought were condos)
