I don't doubt it. Unfortunately, the distinctive Richmond/Tidewater Virginia accent, is only heard from the lips of the elderly. And perhaps a smattering from the middle aged.

But the same can be said for Atlanta, Nashvillle, and Charleston dialects.

Mind if I share your list of Richmond pronunciations on my Facebook page? It's so spot on; we met a woman yesterday who spoke exactly like this!

Thanks,
Mimi Rich

That sounds more Charlotte or Charleston to me... I don't know anyone in Richmond who talks like that.

That was a very proper Richmond way of speaking that I rarely hear anymore. At times it sounds incredibly British.

I just love the regional accents that are all over the USA. Too bad they are all disappearing. I'm all over the place in the USA. Been to 47 states in the last 2 years and I often ask the people, "Why is it that everyone on the TV talks just like a Canadian?". They often say,"I never thought of that, but it's true." It's our sneaky Canuk way of taking over, LOL.
I worked with a good ole boy who was an illegal immigrant and he would always tell people that he was from" OLE VERGINNY.

My kids say my accent comes out the most when I am tired or when I am talking to a senior citizen. You should have heard me when I would talk to my grandmother during my college days - I enunciated very clearly and drew every word ooout. My roommate could always tell when I was talking to one of them! :-) And I still say, hands down, the Danville region has the most distinctive accent in the state!!!
