My grandmother lives in montpelier(hanover county) outside of richmond. How is the crime in richmond and how is it in hanover county?

It depends on which part of town you live on. The southside is HORRIBLE! Live in the 'burbs, Montpelier is a GREAT place to live. I havve alot of family up there.

Even on the Southside its not that bad. I would agree with what you said, though: it depends on which part of the town. Crime in Richmond seems to be very localized, almost literally down to the block.

Hanover is fine, it's a normal suburb. As far as the city goes, there are rough spots. Being in sales I have driven through every part of Richmond. There is not one particular area that contains all the crime. The downtown area of Richmond city is fine, as is the fan/cary street area for the most part. Places that come to mind are northside, east end (including Henrico), and south side within the city limits.

I have family in Montpelier/Hanover, and it's a wonderful place. Nice and quite. Not much crime

Some parts of Eastern Henrico are nice. My family lives in Varina and Sandston and for the most part those a nice/low crime areas.
