check out around Glen Allen. I think the Homewood Suites is out there and they usually have some of the best rates for extended stay. Courtyard is out there.

I don't know how long you are going to do extended stay, but you might also check some of the bed and breakfast places in the fan and church hill. Depends on what you are looking for and how many are staying. But I think you are single from earlier posts. Some of our out of town execs that came into town for extended stays preferred the bed and breakfast's.

There's a (I think this is the name) Microtel Suites extended stay hotel on Huguenot Road in Chesterfield for $199 a week. Not sure how that compares or how the rooms are or anything though... just saw it while I was out today.

We just got back from there and stayed at the Homewood Suites by the airport. It's a new hotel and extremely clean. The suite is large with a sitting room and kitchenette. The bedroom has a fan which is nice. Only negative is there is only one elevator. You don't hear the planes coming or going much past 9 pm. Not sure if they have weekly rates or not. It's close to everything.

Not sure about the weekly cost but we spent $89/night. I don't think they take pets. There is a Residence Inn on the northwest side of the city that takes pets.

I'm gonna stay at the one out in Nashville. You can get the weekly rate for just 60$ a night. They come with kitchens so you can cook your food there and save money. I have heard lots of good things about EX. Stay. I just hope no one left anything unclean on the beds.

The one on Hugenot Rd. is not a Microtel; it's called In Town Suites. Address: 11551 Green Spring Rd. Richmond, VA 23235; phone: (804) 897-7180. Weekly rate is $229 before taxes/fees as of Nov. 12, 2011. The minimum stay is 7 days.
There is also a Homestead Studio Suites by the Arboreteum off of Midlothian Tnpk. if you want to stay less than 7 days (rates around $60/night before taxes). (There is another one in Innsbrook in the West End for about $5 a night more.)
There is also a Super 8 on Hull St. just past intersection of Courthouse Rd. (near Rockwood Park); it's about $160 for 3 nights for 1 person & that includes a fridge and microwave (10300 Hull St. 23114 (804) 276-3900).
As a native Richmonder, I do NOT recommend staying anywhere near Jefferson Davis Highway (high crime area). Also, I wouldn't stay at any of the seedy little motels near the intersection of Midlothian Turnpike and Chippenham Parkway. There is a strip club near there, and, well, I wouldn't want to sleep on those beds...
(Further West on Midlothian Turnpike is okay though.) In general in Richmond, the further west you are, the better. Only exception might be the really nice places downtown or the brand-new places by the airport.
Don't stay by the airport unless you are actually planning on flying somewhere or you have family in that part of town because it's not exactly the most happenin' place in Richmond...there is nothing to do there, really except they did open a new outdoor mall there about a year or two ago (called White Oak Village).
