DEAR GOD!! Is it the mountain air? My dogs love to poke their noses into anything that moves; Can't risk that happening. I wonder why I haven't heard more about this in the other research I've done in terms of climate, etc.,

And bee's? how bad are they? do they fly in swarms?
If you go out in a yard or a grassy field just after sundown or before sunup when the dew is on the grass, you'll see millions of spiders. Not all those reflections are dewdrops, many are spiders watching you for a chance to attack.
Bee swarms kill millions every year, but the government hushes it up because we need bees to make honey.

We moved here last year and I've never seen so many spiders in my life. I'm sure most are harmless but I feel like I'm living in a spider web (outside, basement, garage).

The only other bug we've really noticed is the House Centipede. I read that they eat a lot of other bugs so I just let them do their thing and they haven't bothered me but it's not like I see too many of them.

We moved here from Houston, Texas where we were way too familiar with cockroaches - BIG ONES -- that FLY!! and I haven't seen one here yet, Thank God! So overall, it's been pretty pleasant in Roanoke bug-wise. I do worry about the poisonous spiders but otherwise, the bugs have not been bad at all.

Many years ago I visited friends in Sterling, VA. Walking in their yard (thank God I had shoes on) I saw a huge slug. Yikes.

Are they everywhere in VA?
