Earlier this year I had stopped by this frozen yoghurt place (near gold's gym/ruby tuesdays) on electric road. It was so overpriced that I thought for a minute I stepped into California. For a small cup of frozen yoghurt with toppings, the price was around $9. They measured it by pound & priced by topping. I passed by that place today & saw a new store in its place. Looks like it closed down. What were they thinking?? I dont mind paying $3-4 for a small cup of yoghurt but I could buy a buffet here for $9. Unless its some exceptional, upscale place like Carlos or Hotel Roanoke, why would anyone pay so much for cheap snack foods like ice cream or yoghurt? Anyone else had any experience with overpriced rip-off restaurants around the area?

Nah, I never stop at those places. So many Yogurt places have opened here in the last year that it is pretty unbelievable. The only place I go out for a frozen treat is Pop's on Memorial. They carry Homestead Creamery products and are not priced over the top.

Actually, the one at Towers is called Sweet Frog. Of all of the yogurt places, I've only been to Frogurt (which is downtown), and while it was tasty, we probably wouldn't go back due to the price of it. There have probably been at least 7-8 of them that have opened here in the last year, and I've heard of at least two more that are soon to be opening. Just like lots of things, the popularity skyrocketed and has probably peaked for these types of establishments, and unfortunately I feel pretty certain that there will only be a few left open within the next year or so.

Pop's is definitely affordable. I luv that place. I should try the yoghurt places mentioned in this thread. I love Katie's ice creams & milk shakes too. I should have named this thread cheapest places to eat instead of expensive ones. Another surprisingly affordable place I like is FROTH on starkey rd. Its in the small shopping complex with chicos, talbots, where mill mountain cafe used to be. Their food & beverages are great so no wonder its crowded most mornings. Its surrounded by expensive designer boutiques so I didn't expect it to be cheap, but I was surprised. Its a wonderful cafe.
