I would much rather stay at home and make my own Italian food than go out to a place like Carrabba's or Olive Garden. Italian food is not hard to make.

Not everyone can afford the really pricey restaurants, never mind the added cost of a baby sitter.

I like Olive Garden....maybe it isn't the most authentic, but the food is decent and not priced out of my pocketbook. Even if you have to have the kids, sometimes it's just nice to get out of the house.

We just ate there last night....service is spotty whenever we eat there, just at that specific location, haven't had a problem at any other. As usual, service was weird.....had to ask the waitress three times for dough for the kids to play with (typically at other locations they just give them dough when we are seated), and had to ask for bread, which hadn't arrived even after appetizers. Had to ask for refills on coffee, etc. Anyway, my husband ordered a long island, didn't taste right...we asked about it and were told they serve their drinks half strength, and if you want a regular strength drink, you need to pay extra, so we had to pay more to get it remade. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me! It was my daughter's choice of where to eat after her dance recital but I think next time I will try to talk her into somewhere else. I do like their food and the kids love going there, but Olive Garden is cheaper and the kids like that place too, and service is more consistent there.

If you are ever in a situation where your server is less-than-perfect, ASK TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER. They can't fix a problem if they don't know there is one.

The GM at Carrabbas is a really great guy and he would not have found your experience acceptable. Usually, when the meal is delayed (or any portion of it), the kitchen sends out special appetizers, or desserts, free. I'm just really surprised to hear this. I'm betting the "eye-shadowed server" didn't last long.
