If this goes through this would be huge Rochester huge!(I hate that man) Irondequoit mall is beautiful inside. I just hope this goes through. The project would create 1,000 new jobs. Still not a bad time to be in Rochester and Western NY.
That is a great story with good news I'm interested in hearing more of. The only sickening thing is the posts by all of the depressing all-time naysayers on the d&c forum. I was going to make an account and post on there...but GAH...there are just too many nutty-negative folks
The new jobs would be a huge bonus... especially right now... we will have to see how it goes... that mall seems to be a bit cursed... not trying to be a naysayer... just observant is all...I am keeping my fingers crossed. It is a great building and a fab location. Hope it all works out- it would be great for Rochester.

Ha, according to the idiots on that site, if you wander into any part of the city, you will be gunned down. And they seem to think that New York is the only state in the country to give tax breaks to projects. The people there are a joke.
i read the posts on every story I read on the website...and it seems like it's always the same pathetic soles who's username's speak volumes....ROCbites, LeavingRoch, Crapchester, CreativeOgre...PATHETIC. These people need to get lives. There is being constructively critical, and then there is being a depressing troll. EVERYTHING in Rochester and NYS is bad to them..EVERYTHING. Any positive news of development as seen as a "lie" or "fluff story" and any negative story is "an understatement of how horribly wretched everthing really is".
Its a great idea really. Its unused space anyway, to try and do anything with the mall is an improvement. The fact that businesses will move into the area will lessen crime.

this would be good for rochester and upstate in general. Shopping trends in the past 5-10 years have really increased with these mixed use areas.....basically re-building the "Main St. America's" that so many cities lost with the sprawl and boxed-up, malled up mentality that was prevalent sooo many years ago. It woul be good because not even Buffalo or Syracuse have a walkable, liveable shopping area. I know other comparable rust-belt areas like Pgh has a few and cleveland as well and it really does cater towards the upscale. I think rochester could handle it....although these places usually get built in up and coming neighborhoods....and although irondequoit is ok, it still has a ways to go......hopefully it won't be a major disappointment like the fast ferry......hopefully the ROC can keep this together
C'mon guys, seriously, all trolling aside, would you live at Irondequoit Mall? You wouldn't shop there, we've already evidenced that.
Garmin and I'minformed, for the life of me, I can't understand why you guys cheerlead stuff like this. You both know I'm not an idiot, and I love Rochester, but ideas like this are exactly what makes Rochester a near-miss every time.
I'm going to say what I always say: drop a martial hammer on crime in the city Giuiliani-style and everything else will follow. People love the city, but not enough to live there.
Irondequoit Mall is a big, unnecessary steel box. That's all.
