RIT was the#16 seed and knocked off the #1 seed. Nice job RIT!

Guess what? The Rochester Institute of Technology hockey team can cut a sheet of ice.

The Tigers once again played giant killer in the NCAA Tournament, stunning college hockey by upending top-seeded Minnesota State 2-1 Saturday evening in the Midwest Regional semifinals.

"It's an upset, it's 1 against 16, but it's not a big miracle," Tigers coach Wayne Wilson said afterward.

Josh Mitchell's goal with 5:09 to play broke a 1-1 tie, though it took about five minutes of real-life time for the scoreboard at Compton Family Ice Arena to reflect it.

Great season for the Tigers. Sad to see them lose last night, but they can definitely hold their heads high going into next season.

Completely agreed gt87. A good season all around and nothing to be ashamed about. And the good news is that Matt Garbowsky is getting a chance at pro hockey. He had a couple of AHL offers including from the Sabres to join the Rochester Amerks and he decided he wanted to stay in Rochester so he'll be playing on the Amerks for the rest of this season and next year. Hopefully he makes it into the NHL after next year!

RIT's Matt Garbowsky staying in Rochester

Thanks for the news db. Garbo was great at RIT and it was sad knowing that was his last game as a tiger.
As a Sabres/Amerks fan its great to see he will remain in the area and given a chance at the professional level.

And given the state of the organization right now, with a little hard work it won't take much for him to get his shot in the NHL.
