I live country (16/18 miles to any shopping areas) but on a rural two lane highway. It is quiet, peaceful and even the occasional car or logging truck going by is pleasant. My hubby is gone about ten hours a day and sometimes it is nice to know there are other humans out there! lol! Consider myself blessed.

I have found since moving to the country, that I have more to do. People have been very welcoming, and encourage me to participate in things. When I lived in the 'burbs, there was too much going on, people were too busy, and without people encouraging me to get involved, I didn't. So for me, it is definitely not a slower pace of life ... yet, there are more times when I can relax and just watch the birds, and I spend more time outside gardening, etc... it makes me feel very peaceful.
It is not QUIET though... our neighbor across the street is always running one of his tractors, the geese and ducks are always honking, and even though there are no trains nearby, someone in the area must have a train whistle because I hear one blow occasionally!
