Is one were to find themselves working in this vicinity , what are the closest 'safe' enclaves to live near there and yet still have a very nice living environment and a relatively short commute of 15 minutes or less ?

I was thinking Elk Grove, but I was hoping that there were more choices than that. Rancho Cordova and South Sac are out for safety reasons .

This can be for living in an apartment, home or room rental.

I rented in East Sac when i first moved to the area and it is a reasonable commute to most areas of Sacramento, especially since it is typically a backwards commute to any of the outlying areas. And it's a safe & beautiful neighborhood.

Just last weekend I drove all the way down Watt/Elk Grove Blvd to Elk Grove, and the EG neighborhood seemed fairly decent on that north side, near Calvine. That's probably within 15 minutes.

If you are looking for "safe", I wouldn't really recommend anything west of the old army depot, that's the Lemon Hill area, although further north up Stockton Blvd or 65th (Tahoe Park or Elmhurst) closer to UC Davis might be preferred.

I would also suggest that you not rule out Anatolia in Rancho Cordova. That's the nice side of RC. Everyone I know who lives out that way loves it.

Pocket?

The usual suspects of Land Park, Curtis Park and East Sac are not too far. South Land Park and Hollywood Park are a little closer, a little more modest, and still reasonably safe.

I don't know anything about the Rosemont area, which is pretty close, but I do know that I love the name "Manlove Estates".
