Edit : unsure if numbers are correct. Its still a lot of snow

"OMG! Mountains of snow covering @China_Peak this midday. These photos were captured from the resort's webcams. Officials there say the resort picked up another 48 inches of snow in the last 24 hours. For the entire season they have picked up about 564 inches of snow. @KSEE24"

I've skied China Peak several times many moons ago. I liked it!

I'm thinking a ski day is in order either Thursday or Friday, just one day and come back, thinking Heavenly or Sierra at Tahoe Ski Resort (aka: Sierra Ski Ranch).

It's not an issue of climate, this really is incredibly unusual for the whole state. I'm in San diego, we live in Scripps ranch, we didn't get above 48° today, we had a bunch of hail today and several days in a row, and it's insanely cold right now, low 40s at 6:00 p.m. and very cold wind chills in the low 30s. Freeze warnings tonight for all the inland areas. I just saw that snow might actually be headed for the beach, which hasn't happened in 75 years, but we will see.

Sure you want to go? Not worried about anything? Our mountains are a mess right now.

Foothills were messed up when i went. I wanted to make a full day, but i had to leave early cause so much was shut down. thank goodness my friends are preppers. Im good staying away for a bit.

China peak is awesome. And its improved, too. Always a lively crowd there on weekends.

Edit: cool map. Zoom in.
Drought map comes out tomorrow.

Gotta make it up when the weather is nicer and things are normal.

Next storm will be norcal focused. Get read

Boise, idaho ? Nope, orange county
Amazing photo. Today's storm was wild in SoCal with very low snow, supposedly to see level in coastal OC? Definitely in Riverside County like Temecula

Oh, I get that. But a 64 degree thermostat setting in this weather - wherever one is - seems really low to me. I lived in Point Loma and La Jolla. Cool, damp weather wasn't all that rare, especially in the evenings, but nothing like this. This year is exceptional everywhere. Snow at the beach - hasn't happened in my lifetime - that will really be a sight to see! Stay warm!
