It's called false fall. Indian summer is right around the corner.

While using the pool without heater is a downer for me, the cooler weather is nice change. Was able to get a lot done yesterday without sweating to death.

Bummer, the pool is a bit too cool for you.

For Sept, we have had just as many high temp days in the 60's/70's/80's as we did in the 100's. Yet, I still hear people taking like its still hot.......roll my eyes, not you Mix, just making that observation.

So its still summer and we have this weather system originating way up north near Alaska to produce a couple of days of rain. This is very strange because, normally, if we get any Summer rain it usually is monsoonal in origin coming from the Southwest.

However, it is remarkable to get a "moderate to warm" rain system, high temps in the 70's to mid 60's while raining. Normally, when get rain its in the 50's or colder.

Awesome.

We got 2/3 of inch rain at my house over the 2 days.

This latest rain counts towards the 2021-22 season, as the season is from Oct 1 to Sept 30.

Sacramento cracked 17 inches (17.03) which is 90% of normal. (Average is 18-20 inches)

Sept 20, 2022 - Its Still Summer! Night 9:45PM

Sacramento 59F
Santa Barbara 66F - SB was gorgeous today!
Palm Springs 86F

I really hope this is the sign of at least a half way decent rainy season. Indian summer is right around the corner.

Yep, Oct can be brutal especially in Santa Barbara and rest of SoCal with Santa Ana winds and Fire. Its warming up in Santa Barbara 77F today, low to mid 80's for the rest of the week. Santa Barbara didn't get any of the rain we got over the last two days. That low pressure system didn't dip low enough to include Santa Barbara proper but northern Santa Barbara County (Santa Maria) got healthy doses of rain.

Yes, I'm hoping for around 125% to 150% of normal. 25-28 inches total for Sacramento for the next rainy season '22-'23 would be great. But I always worry about another atmospheric river/Pineapple Express situation after a heavy snow pack has already accumulated. It was only 5-6 years ago that we had 100-150% snowpacks. I always wish for heavy snow accumulation 'round Christmas and January......and then if a pineapple express occurs sometime later that Winter would not be good. "Be careful what I wish for". I hope we never see any major flooding in Sacramento.
