Hello All,

We are planning to move to Folsom by next year and are doing some research on good schools in Folsom. We are looking at Elementary schools for now. Definitely want district schools (cant afford private plus FCUSD has great schools, from we have read). We are trying to look for a school with good reviews, some competition, diversity and great academics rating. While we really want to make sure that we are not missing on extra curricular activities for our child, we would highly appreciate if academics is the main focus of the curriculum in the school.

It would be great to hear your experience/s and best school options in Folsom. The two schools that are everywhere over the net with highest rating are: Sandra J. Gallardo Elementary and Russell Ranch Elementary. Would you guys agree with this?

Thanks a lot!

I live in Folsom but dont have children in the schools. I know that all the schools are highly rated, despite a recent FCUSD report showing us as average. I believe that is because Folsom and Rancho Cordova share the same school district.

If you want to talk to more folsomites and get more feedback, I'd suggest checking out the local (non-CD) forum or in the Folsom facebook chat group. Send me a PM if you'd like the link for the local forum.

As far as ratings, and reviews you can find that here.

As you can see most schools in Folsom are 9+ with plenty of written reviews from parents.

Here's another look at ratings, based on state API scores. Russell Ranch and Empire Oaks (both in Empire Ranch) are similarly rated to Gallardo. If you look into the date behind the API scores on line, you will find diversity numbers. As far as extracurricular, you really have to go to each school to find what they have.
