Has anyone commuted from Contra Costa county to the western part of Vacaville? So, 680 to 80? Google maps tells me ~50 minutes for commute time. Is this a commute-heavy route? I assumed it would be against traffic on 680 (because everyone is going toward the Bay), but is there a lot of traffic heading into Fairfield, Vacaville, and Sac?

thanks!

Look on google maps at the time(s) you plan on commuting, while showing traffic speed.

I hope this late reply is appropriate. I used to live in Las Vegas, NV and accepted a job in Vacaville. Since I'm originally from Oakland, I initially moved back home for a short period of time. When I discovered that the Oakland/Vacaville commute was too much for me (only 3 weeks), I moved in with a relative living in Concord. Since this is the opposite of most people's work commute there is no traffic concerns Mon - Thurs. You're traveling against the traffic to and from work. The issue is when the weekend starts on Friday and Thursday for 3-day weekends. There is always a fleet of Bay Area (and possibly Southern California) residents traveling East on I-80 headed to Lake Tahoe or the alternive way to Yosemite National Park. The traffic usually starts in Fairfield because although it's a small town, it has many exits/on ramps. So the Fairfield people begin competing for interstate lane space that creates a bottleneck that usually continues for about 12 miles until you pass the Nut Tree Pkwy exit. Ironically now I live in Vacaville and can walk to work but I feel trapped on the weekends because of the traffic going East that I mentioned and the typical traffic going West into San Francisco.
